In 2005 my first kid got an OCI as the rules were diiferent then but in 2009 the current rule is that one parent MUST be a US citizen and I had to take a PIO for my second kid in 2009.
Following is from the FAQ`s of Indian consulate at SFO
6. Are minor children whose both parents are Indian citizens eligible for OCI?

All arguments are very sensible. No doubt about it. am working on an EAD and they did not incur any legal cost. However, I get frustrated thinking why they charge $180 per hour to the client.... even when the cost to company for me is about $110K per annum or around $60 per hour. I do not know whether I am worth $180 per hour or not....but probably more than $60/hr since they can charge $180 / hr
We really need to analyze this deeply if we want to come up with a strategy....

Didn't do that(For my own personal reasons). Hoping for having enough time (1 day or two max) before my PD gets current and I send in my future wife's AOS on the first day they become current. If it gets approved, I am screwed and she has to have her own GC processing.
Also, send your application just before Aug 17th (say 15th).
I couldn't wait, because I have to attend my sister's marriage on Sep5th, so, now, I am waiting for the receipt. I am in such a bind, looks like I aged two years in 15 days :) .

I efiled my AP on 9/5/10 @NSC and it was approved today after requesting expediting on 10/5/10 based on financial loss, I have a business transaction back home for which i need to be present and provided all supporting documentation related to that.
This is what is think is more effective than contacting senators/Ombudsman for expediting, resend all the I-131 supporting documentation,proof of emergency/loss, 2 photos and include a cover letter with bold colorful fonts requesting expediting to the same address you sent your app earlier (btw, i used the USCIS center courier address and not PO Box address), i believe this way your app goes to the officer quicker and he has all the documents needed to approve your case right away if you qualify for expediting, i have used this process more than once and know it works at least for me....you have tried other methods, why not try this as well!

I have been doing the same research for the past one month, here is my experience.
1. Termlife Vs Wholelife.
Term is better than whole life. Instead of going with whole life, you can have Term + Saving account. For example, if you need $500/year for term and $2500/year for whole life. Take the Term insurnace and pay $500/year, open a saving account and deposit $2000/year ($2500 - $500).
The only issue here is that Term will cover you till the age of 60-65 if you get 20-30 year fixed rate policy. But if you still have immovable assets at age 65, which you surely will, that you need protected for your dependents then you will not have any coverage at all because Term will last only its stated duration. If saving/investing during young age is the objective then Term is good, no doubt, because it's cheap and covers you from risk during young working years. But I guess no company gives Whole Life on H1 so there's not any other option.

I got a 2nd FP notice for 485. I will be current next month. I also applied for AP last month, which got approved yesterday. Not sure if AP application triggerred the FP notice or if there is a chance I can get approved next month??
I got a FP notice for next month. It is certainly not related to AP or EAD renewal, since I don't have any pending AP or EAD renewal. I got my EAD renewed last March and AP in May. So hoping that I got the FP notice since they started looking at my 485 application and something positive will be end result.

Tina, my wife has the exact same issue. Pl advise. She is workng on H1 but getting delayed pay and paystubs and no W2 for 2006 since she dd not have SSN until feb 2007. To be safe, she wants to apply for H4 in Chennai although she still has valid H1. have 2 questions.'
1. can we fix a web appointment thru VFS for H4 visa stamping for her, even though she is on H1 right now and does not have H4 I797? I will add he as my dependent, since I am doing my H1 renewal as well and my case is strong
2. will they ask for her h1 paystubs and W2s if she is applying for H4 in chennai? Hopefully not. she has an expired H4 visa so she cannot re-enter on H4 visa.
3. also is it possible to travel from Atlanta or nearby to chennai without getting transit visa since we might not have time and aretravelling on expired visas. any short routes airlines you know?(singapore does not need transit visas?)even european cities that dont ask for transit visas will be fine.
